Is Spring Here?!?!

Could spring finally be here in West Michigan?? It is hard to tell at my house!!  If you look out my back windows you will see....

There is still a couple of inches of snow and mounds of snow that are a couple feet high!!  You can see that the snow is melting but not as fast as what it has in my front yard!  My front yard thinks that spring has sprung because in my front flower beds peeking through the winter leaf blanket are crocuses and tulips and even some of my perennials are starting to green up!

These pictures are just a taste of the green that I am seeing in my front flower beds!













I like the fact that there is green showing but with the early flowers I am afraid we are going to hit with late season snow and all my tulips will be ruined! I also don't like the kids playing in this in between time because it is hard to know how to dress them for the outdoors because no matter what they come home soaked to the bone and muddy!

When Winter Comes to the Midwest!

My area of the Midwest received about 12 inches of new snow overnight!  This is our first measurable snow of the season!  It was beautiful this morning to look at but not to drive around town!  It took hubby over 45 minutes to get to work that is 15 minutes away on dry roads!

Winter Weather

In the last THREE days, we have been snowed in twice!!  On Friday, we had record snowfall for that particular day.  Most areas, including my area got over 11 inches of snow!!!

My hubby had to go out our patio slider door(that is covered) so that he could take this picture of our side door. 

This picture is after they(hubby and the three older boys) used the snowblower and shovels down our driveway!  The sun decided to come out on Saturday while they were digging us out!

NOW today we are under blizzard conditions because the wind is whipping all the snow from Friday and today all over the place!  We decided to not go to church this morning because of the conditions and then the evening activities at church were cancelled!   The picture below is of my hubby and three older boys as they were walking around the backyard!  They found a drift that "swallowed" hubby's 34 inch inseam legs!!

And to think they are saying that Tuesday will be the same as Friday and Sunday!!  Oh winter weather in the Midwest!  There is very little chance that we will be having a "green Christmas"!!

Saturday night and all day Sunday, we have had high winds, snow, and freezing temperatures. The high winds knocked out power to thousands(about 120,000 in West MI) and my family was one of them!!! We got our power back last night but there are still close to 15,000 without power on this Christmas Eve. They should have their power back later this evening. The airport was without power for 14 hours due to the storm as well!!
