Thursday Thirteen---Read Aloud Book List

One thing that I enjoy about homeschooling is being able to snuggle up on the couch with my kids and a good read aloud book!

It is so much fun listening to them as they interject what they think might happen next.  OR they beg me to keep reading even though we need to move to doing something else.

This week I am going to share my kids' favorites read aloud books!

  1. The Day that Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash

  2. If You Give A Mouse A Cookie

  3. Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel

  4. Paddington Bear Series

  5. Amelia Bedelia Series (yes even my boys loved this series!)

  6. Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle

  7. Mr. Popper's Penguins

  8. The Boxcar Children

  9. The Sign of the Beaver

  10. Charlotte's Web

  11. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

  12. The Indian in the Cupboard

  13. Carry On, Mr. Bowditch

There are more that I could add to this list!! Do you have any favorite read aloud books? If so, I would love to know so we can add them to our list if we haven't already read them!

For more lists of thirteen, head over to Happy to be at Home.

I laugh every time I see the "Giggle, Giggle, Quack", "Click, Clack, Moo" or "Duck for President" books. They have the cutest story!! I love your blog! Thanks for all your hard work!! crystalganey@yahoo.com

Some of these books bring back many happy memories of my childhood like "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Charlotte's Web". Some of these I haven't heard of though. THanks for sharing!

What a fantastic list!! I agree with you (on the ones I know!). Did you know that the author of Jimmy's Boa is from Michigan? My son's school PTO raised the $$ to have her come and visit next month, I am SO excited because I love that book and had no idea she was from here.
I really like the Reading Rainbow show - it is on at a silly time now (6:30am) but you can check episodes out from the library. The books they read on that show are usually fantastic to read aloud too.

Sofia loves Milly Molly Mandy books. I don't know the exact title, but something like Stories from Grandma's Attic- super! We're reading Understood Besty right now and it's cute.
