Yesterday, my #2 ds decided that he was going to heat up a hard boiled egg for snack! So he peeled the shell off and put the whole egg on a plate to heat up in the microwave. He set the time for 10 seconds and when the time was up, he took out the egg and felt that it was still cold. So he put the egg back into the microwave for an additional 30 seconds!! He then walks away from the microwave to get a fork to eat his egg when it is done. At about the point of 15 seconds left, he and I both heard a LOUD boom coming from the microwave. We stop the microwave and open the door to find this(click on the pics to enlarge to see the full effects of an exploded egg).....
AND this...
The whole egg had exploded in the microwave!!!! It was all over! I could have put it all in a bowl and made egg salad with no chopping required!!! But I didn't! Instead we cleaned up the mess and we talked about why the egg exploded. I also explained to him that the next time he heats up a whole egg he needs to slice it first!
