Shopping Trip---Savings $225.06

One of my goals for 2010 is to only do major grocery shopping twice a month.  Since it was payday on Friday, I took the time to do my shopping for the rest of the month(except for a perishable item run-milk, eggs, produce) along with making my monthly Sam's run(watch for a post later!).  Whew! It was a lot of work to do all the shopping in one day but I did it!!  I prepared for my trip the day before by gathering all the coupons I would need and making my lists. It took me about 3 1/2 hours to do Meijer, Family Fare, Duthler's, Walgreens, 2 bread outlets and Sam's Club all by myself! Several of the stores were just a run in and grab a few things that were sale items as I went by the store.  You might think that with the list of stores that I went all over the town to do my shopping.  Such was not the case because four out of the seven places I went to on Friday are within 2 city blocks apart so I start at the furthest one and work my way back towards my house.

This week at Meijer the deals were actually half way decent with their 10 for $10 get 11th item free sale!  Even with it being the end of the week, I still was able to get everything that was on my list.  Oh! that was a great feeling because that meant not having to worry about getting rainchecks or working out a different scenario to get the items that I needed to buy.   I also was able to save more than I spent by almost $9.00!  And the best part of all, I have $8.00 to spend on my next shopping trip, which will be for milk and other perishables!!
